Hometown Heroes

It all started when…

A pandemic turned our world upside down in the spring of 2020. We didn’t know if we’d have sports in the fall, much less the tradition of people in local communities attending high school games. 

When high schools began practicing in preparation for the start of a season in September, people developed a heightened respect for the players, coaches, and schools for moving forward when the rest of the sports world was cancelling.

Fans connected with their local teams in a new way. I wanted to try and capture that. That’s how the “Hometown Hereos” series began. - mw
